League Rules
The League is now entering into its 47TH year. The league was designed for players who want to play competitive, yet friendly hockey. It is a four (4) team league. Games are divided into 3 – 20 minute periods with stop time in the last 5 minutes of the 1st and 2nd periods and a full stop time 3rd period. We start in mid October and play through til the end of March.
To ensure that the league stays competitive and friendly, we may adjust team rosters to balance the league and approximate parity. This is at the sole discretion of the Commissioner and is intended to keep our league friendly and sociable.
The 4 team reps decide on any changes made. If tied, the Commissioner will break the tie
Rules
All Canadian Old-Timer rules are in effect except as noted below:
-
There will be no icing except in the last 5 minutes of the period.
-
There is NO red line.
-
Icing in the last 5 minutes are only from behind your own blue line.
-
Each period is worth one (1) point. Two (2) points for winning the game. One (1) point if game ends in a tie. Maximum 5 points per game (meaning all 3 periods were won + 2 points for the game = 5 points)
- If the period is tied: 3 on 3 for 2 minutes stop time. If no one scores then the period remains tied and no points awarded. If the game is tied then it remains a tie, 1 point each.
-
Slap shots are allowed.
-
Each team is allowed a one time 30 second time out in the period of their choice
-
Minor penalties are according to COHA rules. If you receive 3 penalties in a game, you will come under review by the Commissioner.
-
Any penalties that seem irregular will be reviewed by the commissioner
-
All other penalties are (as per Old Timers rules) four (4) minutes, e.g. slashing, high sticking, and cross checking. Any Match penalty will be five (5) minutes, such as fighting, hitting from behind, or butt ending and you will be ejected from the game and subsequently reviewed by the COMMISSIONER (which may result in further league action).
-
Please keep your cool and try to help other team mates who are having trouble keeping theirs by attempting to remove them from a heated situation.
- 3 pickups for the playoffs will be allowed of equal or lessor caliber: Please let the other team know who you are missing and who you want to pickup. If you can not agree, I will make the final decision.
